Suppliers referred by MPs, peers and ministers were placed in a high priority lane for PPE contracts. PPE Medpro, referred by Baroness Michelle Mone, had been incorporated seven weeks earlier and held £100. It won contracts worth over £200m and was later ordered to repay £122m.

HMRC cut off 44,000 callers who had waited more than an hour, and MPs concluded it was a choice

HMRC answered 66.4% of attempts to reach an adviser against a target of 85%, with average waits above 23 minutes. In eleven months it disconnected nearly 44,000 callers who had already been holding for 70 minutes. MPs found the department was allowing the phones to fail deliberately.
